- Rudolf Franz Ferdinand Höss was the Nazi commandant of the Auschwitz extermination camp.
- Rudolf Hess was imprisoned with Hitler after trying to overthrow the Bavarian government. Once they were out of prison Hess became Hitler's private secretary and went with him on most of his political travels throughout Germany. As the Nazis came into power in 1933 Hess became a member of Hitler's cabinet, his deputy, and later Hess was also by Hitler's side when he became Chancellor. During WWII Hess made a solo flight to Scotland and arrived unexpectedly in 1941. Upon landing he was taken prisoner by the British, but he said he came to make peace between the British and Germans so they could fight together against the soviet union. There are some different ways that people say that story happened, however this one is seemed to be the most accurate. Some people say that Hitler didn't even know that Hess was going on this flight, but their relationship was so close that its only logical that he told Hitler in advance. Hess remained imprisoned until the end of the war in 1946 and was then convicted of being a major war criminal and was sentenced to life in prison. Hess was sent to a prison with only one other man, and then the other man died. That left Hess being the only prisoners in a prison built for about 600 people. He refused visits from his family until he got very ill later in his life. He died in 1987 at the age of 93.
