- January 20, 1942 was a very important day for the Nazi cause of eliminating all Jews from existence. Fifteen high ranking officers of the Nazi party met in the Berlin suburb of Wannsee to discuss their plan of the "Final Solution." Representing the SS guard was the SS general Reinhard Heydrick. one of Heinrich Himmler's top deputies, SS Major General Heinrich Muller, the chief of the RSH Colonel Eberhard Schongarth, Commander of the RSH Major Rudolf Lange, SS Major General Otto Hofmann. Representing the agencies of the state were State Secretary Roland Freisler, Ministerial Director Wilhelm Kritzinger, State Secretary Alfred Meyer, Ministerial Director Georg Leibrandt, Undersecretary of state Martin Luther, State Secretary Erich Naumann, State Secretary Josef Buhler and Ministerial Director Gerhard Klopfer.
- Reinhard Heydrich convened this Wannsee Conference to gain support of the government and other ministries who shared the same goal of executing all European Jews and to announce that Hitler appointed Heydrich to coordinate this operation. most of the attendants at the Wannsee Conference were already aware of the mass murder taking place in the camps.
